I was really excited to meet Steph for her Leamington brand photoshoot! After emailing back and forth and then meeting over zoom, I got to know Steph and a little behind her interesting business as a creative content writer and coach.
Steph approached me for a brand photoshoot as she wanted to update her website. She also wanted a bank of images for her social media- it’s always a challenge to match images to stories and content! Steph loves to travel and has amazing travel photos on her insta page, but like a lot of people, hardly any photos of her! Steph wanted some up to date, natural, images of herself that also showed her personality.
Planning The Brand Shoot
As with each brand photoshoot, I offer an in depth planning session over zoom. This helps us get to know each other and to create a plan for the brand shoot. It can be overwhelming to start thinking about a photoshoot, but I help every step of the way. We plan locations, the right outfits, props and anything else that will help to show off your brand and personality. Steph, like a lot of small businesses, does not have physical products to show off. As she offers a service, it is even more important to infuse personality into her images and set her apart from her competitors. We put our vision for the shoot together with the help of a pinterest board, which is a great way to explore inspiration and see what each other is thinking.
Brand shoot in Leamington
Leamington Spa is a favourite of mine with gorgeous buildings, a lovely park, great cafes and a bonus of amazing wall art by Brink Street Art. Steph knows Leamington well and this provided a great backdrop for her photoshoot. Steph had a clear vision of what she wanted for some of her indoor shots and hired an Airbnb for the day, which had the most amazing bay window- perfect for some headshots and interesting brand shots. Hiring a space is a brilliant way of getting the perfect location for your shoot.
We mixed up the outdoor photos with different backdrops and made sure colours and brand images matched Steph’s vision for her business. My main aim of every shoot is to capture relaxed, natural images, so I make sure the shoot is fun, and more like a couple of friends having a day out rather than a photoshoot! We had a giggle (especially at a little dachshund wearing shoes!!) did lots of chatting, enjoying a walk in the sunshine. We ended the shoot with a lovely cold drink from 1 Mill Street- the perfect place for the last few photographs.
Showing Personality
There are lots of ways to show personality through your brand images. By doing so, you can start to show the person behind your business and this really helps you to connect with your clients. Steph loves travel, yoga, reading and animals, so we used this as a base for some of her images. When planning your shoot, it is important to think about the content you would like to create, so that you have images that help you to tell your story. Bringing personal interests and passions into your brand helps you to stand apart from others and brings people with similar beliefs and interests to you- which are often people you most enjoy working with. During this Leamington brand shoot, we were lucky enough to have a random cat join us for a picture! Some things you can’t plan for but opportunities come along when you least expect them!
Final Images
From her brand photoshoot, Steph had a collection of images to use through her social media pages. I love the photograph that Steph has chosen for her website home page. Aligned with her brand colours, she is laughing and it makes me smile as I can see her personality in the image! It also reminds me of the shoot- it was a really fun afternoon!
